Monitoring/Recording setup question

Can anyone explain the best way to set my mixer up, so that I can monitor my tracks and record at the same time so that the output from my computer doesn't end up recording as well? I am using a Delta 44 card, Vegas Audio, and a Behringer mx2004a mixer. I'm new to this, and would appreciate any advice.

I know what you mean,

I am using a benringer mx602A, and to just record my track without the backing music, I use the AUX send as my mixer output to the soundcard.

But, I think the mx2004a has channel inserts, so you should use that. I am gonna let the experts elaborate on this as I'd never used it before.
