Here was the problem:
Hi, I was wondering if you can help.
Last week I could no longer monitor thru the earphones my electrtic guitar as it was plugged into a DI box then out thru the sound card (earphones) on the pc. The monitoring effect just stopped while I was deleting some capturing software that used the internal clock. So, I pushed a wrong button perhaps on Cubase. I bought an E-Mu interface which records well. Earphones are outed thru that. But still, while the electric guitar records fine, I can't hear it while I record it.
Was wondering if there is some button I've missed on the audio software or if there is a fix.

The solution: The E-Mu interface has a monitoring button with stereo/mono and push again for 'off.' It was off.
My advice: Get rid of AC97 on pc and get a usb interface. Better sound and manageablility.
