Hi all,

I've just switched to cubase le and everything is going sweet except for one thing I can't work out and I've spent the last three days searching the net for an answer which is probably really simple........hopefully.

When I record a drum midi track and then would like to overdub the same track, like adding a high hat, the previous data that I've recorded isn't heard when I'm recording the new data (I'm using the sounds from the motif es rack). I have the monitor button pressed in cubase and have tried various sound card settings, downloaded drivers etc. I've tried every setting to speak of in device setup.

I've ended up having to go back to magix studio as I have no problems at all which I guess tells me that my sound card is fine and is just a setting problem in cubase.

Thanks for any replies.

When you say the data isn't heard, is it written over or does it still exist?
When you are recording midi parts you have to be set to midi merge in order to add additional parts to an existing part.

Thanks for the reply.

No the data isn't overwritten. When I hit record it seems to disable the previously recorded track and I can only hear the new track as I record it. When I play it back I then hear all the data I recorded for that track. I tried the midi merge function but it didn't work. It's really starting to annoy me.
