i've had the art branded passive ysm1s for a while. one of my best bang for buck purchases ever. i picked up a used pair of tascam vlx5s for the road (job requires travel) but i'm missing my york clones like a mofo. the tascam's ain't bad but they have less bass extension and don't sound nearly as dimensional.
are the york ysm1s and art slm1s being discontinued? i was looking at monitors a couple of days ago and noticed that many online stores have them listed as discontinued. bummer. good speakers for the money. maybe i should grab another pair before they're gone. then again, maybe i don't need to. they've been very reliable, even with some high volume abuse here and there.
I went thru a bunch of speakers (not complaining...)
but the Yorks are great, I have them love them and never had the feeling to replace them and never an issue although the XLR are a tighter fit.
After I tried them next to the $1,000 DYns and could match them so closely, I haven't been doing much gear lust monitor stuff. Top notch monitor for HR imo.
I use the YSM1p's for everything with HIFI= my pc. the old stereo gotten dusty. my beautiful wooden tower cabinets form the 70's wth ribbon tweeters, like a good ol dog that doesn't get attention.
never even heard of the YSM1p's until this forum... cool rating factor of 10.
