we don't need rest!!
I have two 19" NEC monitors in which I sit a good 6 feet away in my home setup. Iniitially I was running them at the lowest resolution with large fonts and all was fine. (800x600).
I just recently switched software to Sonar6pe and found the need to increase the resolution, because some of the non adjustable windows were going off the edge of the monitors....specifically the window for mixing down.
I tried going up to 1024x768, but that wasn't quite enough. The next level of 1152x864 is just fine, but with the extra large fonts, etc... I can barely read the small print from where I am sitting.

Question(s)
1. I looked at some 22" wide screen, but the actual images on the screen seemed the same size as the 19"...just more "picture"...and streached horizontally at that. Is that correct?
2. Keeping my budget at around $700, what can I do to be able to read the screens from about 6+ feet away?.... looking for two monitors also.
3. I am almost thinking getting one of those "mongo" 30 inchers...but they get up there in price.

so??

6 feet?????

You should be using a projector or at minimum 43" HDTV (720p or 1080i) display at that distance if you value your vision...

lol, that's what I was thinking. 19" monitors at 6 feet??? I would say also use a projector.... Maybe he has a booth and a controller, and while recording needs to be able to see??

I was looking at similiar magnifiers lately for some of my old 15" moniters and found they really range in price. Seems anything designated medically nessisary costs way more than thier similiar office supply type counterparts so shop around. (Isnt that the way it always is....stick it hard to the aging vision impaired person on a fixed income that cant live without it).

Cpu screen magnifier

In the end decided I want to try one of these as a cheap alternative to a projector instead:

Big screen TV lens

(I think both products are really the same type of lens only the first one is several inches larger and built in a plastic frame to hang from you moniter).

Mixmkr will just have to face the fact he's old and pony up the dough!!

Almost forgot, there are also numerous programs out there that will magnify your screen much like the built into Windows magnifier already does but with probably more cutomizable options. Some are even free or free to download on a trial basis:Downloads.com/Magnifiers

I'd be adjusting the setup so I was sitting a lot closer to it. Get some monitor arms from Ergotron...
