monitor not holding settings...???

Can anyone tell me why my monitor does not hold its color and resolution settings?

About 90% of the time when I fire it up it goes into 16 color "Readers Digest" mode and stops loading windows until I change the color settings and restart.

Sometimes it doesnt do this but most of the time it does.

Possibilities that come to mind....

- Display driver problem
- Display driver conflict with another device

I'd download and install the latest video driver first. What O/S do you have installed?

should I reinstall the drivers off the disk????

I havent looked for the newest drivers yet....but its been the same OS and monitor set up for like two years and its just started doing it in the past couple of months.

I'll try and find the drivers.

If you haven't installed any software or hardware that could be conflicting with it, then yeah, you should be good to go with the ones from the original install disk.

oh.....new software can upset the force??.

I did not know that.

It's actually my "home" i.e. generall use computer that does it and I've installed every possible peice of software I've ever bought/downloaded/or demoed.......mostly to try the stuff out before loading it onto my music-only computer.

Of course, I guess my little plan worked.
