new to recording , i just got some recording stuff and monitors have 2 -1/8 inch connects and 2 -1/4 inch connects.can i hook to both at the same time? i hooked them to pc via 1/8 inch. can i also hook 1/4 inch , say to the multitracker and have playback out of it or also playback out of pc if i want? or if i just leave them connected to pc and hook multitracker to pc via USB will my playing into the multitracker still come out with monitors hooked to pc in real time?thanks

I bet they're intended for either-or connection.

so is there a way to be able to have playback out of the mutitracker and also be able to listen from pc (say mixing in cubase or something) with the same pair of monitors?

Get a mixer. It doesn't have to be big. There are 1RU line mixers that would do the trick.

I've got some KRK Rocket5's for portable speakers, which have 1/4 Jack, XLR and Phono connectors and I've had two things hooked up at once. As long as you're careful not to overload the amps you should be fine, although I would recommend looking at the manual just to see if there is a loading issue.

Failing that, a mixer would be the ideal way to go.

Sigh. No offense, but I'm just not motivated to explain rudimentary things you can learn on your own with a little effort. Maybe someone else will have more patience.

A monitor controller would suit you well. Tho I am guessing the cost would outweigh the workaround of just exchanging cables. Mackie - Big Knob

Or, PreSonus

For that price you could just get a better interface that will consolidate your outputs. :D
