Well, not much money, but...

I will shortly have enough $ saved up to buy something. Since a decent soundcard is first on my priority list, here I am. For now, I only record two tracks at a time max, but that could change some day. Maybe, maybe not. I have an audio buddy pre. Other equip I could hook up to the puter are Roland XP-50 keys, POD, compressor (3630 :(), and multi-effects unit (which I don’t really use anymore, but you never know).

I can have enough in another couple of weeks to get a new Delta 1010lt at $279 (I think someone posted a place with lower price, but I can’t remember who. I’ll have to search). Can someone talk me out of this with some other options?

For example:

What are the befefits of maybe getting a Delta 1010 or a C-Port dsp 2000 compared to the 1010lt. Maybe I can find one on of those on ebay for $400 or so (a little less if I’m lucky). And would you buy a soundcard on ebay? Speakers and such I wouldn't have a problem with, but I can envision problems with used sound cards.

Maybe I should even go as low as a used Delta 44 on ebay for $150 or less and have some cash saved for monitors (next on the priority list – either that or getting my elec. guitar fixed so it plays in tune  or a better vocal mic)

Or maybe an Omni Studio/Delta 66 combo if I can find it on ebay for $300 or so?

Or maybe just get a new Audiophile and upgrade later when I need more ins/outs?

Other options?

Like I said, currently I don’t record more than 2 tracks at a time, but I could see going to 3 easily enough as I get more mics just to catch a decent acoustic guitar & vocal performance. Who knows…maybe down the line (way down) when I get better at recording, I may start recording others. So I guess the last question is what can I use all those ins & outs on say a 1010 or 1010lt for when I’m just recording myself so I don’t feel like I spent more money than I needed too.

Sorry for the long post. I know there probably is no “right” answer, but I’m interested in your opinions.

Thanks in advance.

www.digitalproaudio.com has the 1010lt for $249...most places that want your business will match it.......

i bought a Audiophile a while back thinking Id never need more inputs....now im kicking myself.....asap, i will be going to the 1010lt.....if you can get away with 4 inputs, the Delta 44 is a good choice.....

That’s the one…thanks :D. You must be watching that pretty carefully. :D

Just out of curiosity, what was it that you found you needed to do where you want to get the 1010lt to replace your Audiophile?

I'd say go with the omni studio. It's got the two preamps you have right now, and two more 1/4' ins for when you get another preamp or two. It also has tons of other options. You should look into it.

Actuall, I was just thinking about it and I'd be willing to sell mine to you for $300. It's in perfect working condition, I'm just upgrading to a 1010.

Damn….how do they get so much stuff in one little box. Quite impressive. Your offer may be something I would consider as long as you are not looking to unload it quickly. I wouldn’t have that much saved for several weeks (don’t ask – it’s a long story – I’m on a restricted budget :D). I’d say let it lie right now and if you can unload it before then go ahead and do it. When I decide what I want to do and have the cash in a few weeks, I’ll see if you still have it. If not – no big shakes. In other words don’t wait for me. If it’s still around when I’m ready, and that’s what I decide on, then so be it.

Thanks for the offer. I do appreciate it.

Now there is a Delta 66/Omni studio at $187.50 with 2 hours left. A little scratched, no box or CD. Crap, I could get that right now with what I have saved if I could get I for $200 or so.

Crap, I haven’t made up my mind yet. Still, are used soundcards a good idea from ebay?
