Very tasteful, mature, and cerebral... things I cant associate with you.

Dude, I bet you've never even *heard* of Dexy's Midnight Runners. That horn part reminds me of them. You may have heard of Lambchop. These are just two flavors I hear in it - it sounds like your song to me - high praise.

It entertains me mightily to think of this stuff surfacing in Bozeman, where foreign students walk the streets unafraid in the bosom of middle map America.

Ooooo - tasty guitar! Nice break. Damn, that's good, Slack.

Dynamics really help make this one. Another aspect that's *very* tasty is that slightly arhythmic bit around 2.15.

I really liked Sunday and Saturday, but this one's closer to pro. Again, I'm not talking about the sound, just the song. I think if Radiohead came up with this one on their next album, people would be satisfied/excited/intrigued.

There are these times when it comes up like an artesian well or something. Don't think about it. Keep your head down and do what's required as it comes up again next time.

I think S8-N would enjoy doing this one. He wouldn't do it better, but he'd do it raw and real good. (Clayton, if you love this man, you'll do McGuinn to his Dylan.)

Furphuxache, get the copyright on this one registered. It reminds me a bit of She's So Heavy by the Beatles, or whatever they called it.

Wow thanks guys.

Dobro, it was nice to hear you mention Radiohead. Ametth turned me on to them a while back and I listen to them a LOT....maybe some wore off...I hope so. Thanks for your kind words.

Damn, you are really cranking them out....this one rocks..hard....I dont think I can say anything bad at all about this song, the recording, the arrangement, anything.....damn good.......

Another very good tune Slackmaster! I really like your style of music. Keep it coming.

I echo the sentiments of the other posters. This one is a real blending of your old style and the new style you've been working on. I think it's a perfect match and a seamless transition. Well done. What is the gurgling sound, I'm dying to know?

By the way, I also downloaded "Saturday" which somehow slipped through my radar when you released it. Another well done tune.

I see that Thursday is up...man you just keep pushing them out. What are they putting in the Bozman water supply these days? Can you send me some?

>if somebody wants to give me an actual keyboard I promise I'll put it to good use! Haha.

I'll be glad to re-record the piano clip for you without the shmutz all over the recording heads. Send me the .mid file. Shipping charges on a baby grand would kill me. Even if I could afford one.

"Monday" has some great John Lennon style riffs. Appropos in that he also left us in NYC thanks to some asshole. Nice use of that trombone. Very Sgt. Pepperish.

"Saturday": Nice blend of koto and timpani. Damn- does the sun ever come out in Bozeman?

Oops, I first posted this on the thursday thread, and discovered that it was monday that I was thinking of.
Slackmaster, I was wondering what you are saying on the first line. I'm really bad at making out lyrics in songs. It kind of sounds as if you are saying, "we're all the same, we all love our nuts"
If that is what you are saying, you're right on.
The song is addictive. I really want to jam live to this, on the bass.

Haha bobbo...I wasn't going to post lyrics, but I don't want people going around thinking I wrote a song about loving nuts. :)

We're all the same
We all love our moms
We're all the same
We all pet our dogs

We're all the same
We're all the same
'Cept I'm over here
And you're there
I'm over there
But you're over here
I'm over there

We're all the same
We all hurt/hate our moms
We're all the same
We all hit our dogs

Hmmm...I think I like your "nuts" lyric better :) Thanks for listening man!

Doc,

I'd send you the .mid file except there is no .mid file to send :( This wasn't midi, it was triggering wave samples via fruity loops. It's very similar composition-wise though I think. I'm glad you enjoyed saturday & monday. You've always inspired me (that sounded kinda gay).

CMiller,

The gurgling sound is a wasp sample slowed down and patched through a stereo thingamajig. Thanks!

the ending sound like lying with your head below the surface in your bathtub striking its' side with your knuckle, and farting repeatedly. How did you record that?

Mesh, one has to assume you've tried that bathtub trick......

Hey Slack, I liked this one as well. I am truly inspired by your use of odd sounds. This one has kind of a Dave Edmunds thang going on. Hmmm. Dave Edmunds? Am I thinking of the right guy? Dave Mason, maybe? Shit, I dunno - it is very unique - but that vocal sound - it reminds me of a guy named Dave... something. Maybe it'll come to me later.

I have to ask, when you say it was a wasp sample slowed down and patched through a stereo thingamajig, do you mean a wasp as in the flying, biting/stinging kind? Or do you mean wasp as in Blackie Lawless' band?

Mascas. Dave Mascas (sp?), of Dinosaur Jr. Ooops. JAY Mascas. Yes, Mesh?

At least, that's what I "default" to having heard "Bad Day."

I likes it! There's some Chicago in there, so I'm tempted to play it backwards...

:D

Slack,

Very nice, you definately have your own signiture sound.

Sounds like your finding a nice balance between heavy, and your voice, I hope you know what I mean.

We do like to hear your voice shine through.

Also like the fast vibrato on the lead. BB would be proud.

Nice recording, makes me want to turn it up.

I am getting around to giving this another listen...
The funny thing is this: When I hear this i think "Too bad the poor bastard has to use drum samples... " and at the same time I think: " I wish my snare sounded that good..."
Just an interesting note.

Good stuff Slak... Very sensitive... in fact, I bet you get chaffed recording that song you are so sensitive.
