I would like to modify my Jackson pro standard guitar. 3 pickup single cutaway with a whammy. 2 single coils and 1 humbucker in the bridge posistion.

What I would like to do is eliminate the center pickup and have one neck pickup be single coil and the bridge pickup reamain a humbucker but I would like to replace the pickups with better pickups and have them active.

Any suggestions or sites to visit for wiring and pickup selection etc?
Will be used mainly for classic rock.

I had an EMG 81 humbucker in a LP, sounded great for hard rock.Check out www.emginc.com/.Wiring is pretty simple. You get wiring instructions with the pickups, should have 'em on there website too.

Thanx Grinder, will take a look, but I am not really into playing hard rock.
Any more sites etc you guys can suggest??
Remember, I want to go active.
My ideal setup would be 1 single coil, 1 humbucker, one tone for each, one volume for each and then 1 master volume for the two volumes and a splitter on the humbucker and a ???3 way posistion switch????
I have to check the guitar and see how much router work I would have to do since all she has now is one volume control and no tone controls. I can design the pickguard and cut it out on a laser out of any material I want.

This is an awful lot of wiring. I am curious why you feel the need for both separate volume controls and a master volume. You could always use a Volume pedal, if you feel you would use it that much. I would advise that you take it to a repair person who is familiar with electronics for the work. You should not have to do ANY routing, but if you do, than you really want to take it to a professional. You do not want to mess this up, as it is impossible to fix if you mess it up. In all likelihood, you would need drilling, but no routing.

As to pickups, you could go with EMGs, which many people like (I personally don't, but that is just a personal preference). There are other possibilities. The one I would be most likely to use would be Bartolinis. I really like there active electronics in basses, and I have always been impressed with their workmanship.

There is no room in the guitar for the extra pots etc. I can do all the woodwork and wiring myself, no problem there. I just want the master volume.
