Jeff, that's some good guitar playing. I'm not an expert on mics. I would only suggest boosting the volume a hair plus the high end on the lead. I enjoyed listening to that.

Well I like the second one best. It just sounds more natural and present to me. it has more "life" to it. But I don't know enough about mics to say anything specific about why. Someone will be along soon enough though, I'll bet. ;)

hey Jeff, I know nothing about microphones, but it sounds really good to me...

great guitar playing as usual..

Jeff...that sounds great...and actually better to me. Use your gut instincts, as they'll work for you, in my most sincere honest opinion. You've had some "iffy" stuff...but it seemed it was just the "fun-goof around" stuff. This stuff is top class. I don't hear any problems.

Maybe you like the other version because you're more an electric guy...and maybe your just used to 'plugged in' sounds vs what you just got.

I'm not going to get critical with the recording aspects, because your ears are as good as anyone else's here. To me saying "move the mic toward the 12th fret...away from the sound hole...over the shoulder, between the knees...boost 1kHz, etc, record at 96k, use elixers, dump the behringer, get a Grace...etc, etc.....IN MY OPINION, you have to be there to make those assesements and hear what's happening over YOUR control monitors.

follow the gut...drink more beer...get a bigger gut...

man...you play nice;)

I think new version sounds better because there is not a tonn of delay on it :D

It sounds great, awesome, cool, nice ..... enjoyed it.

seriously though it sound very good, you don't need any advice so go away :D

did you ever here of a guitarist Don Ross? don't know why I asked.

wait don't go away yet... did you get two mics? is this stereo miced? you should be telling US how to mic a guitar :D

cheers

I thought version 2 sounded fuller.

Really great playing and recording!
I can't hear any problems with the mics.

Did you buy them from the Soundroom,or GC?

I know you didn't ask about other instruments, but the kick sounded clicky to me,thought you'd like to know.

Great stuff!

Best to you,
Pete

Dude... how did I miss this guy?!?!?

this stuff rocks...!

Top notch recording too. I liked amiga2 better (cause I hate that "direct" guitar sound.. and the first one definitely had that goin' on. :p ) I also use the MC12 and get pretty decent results with it... now if I could only play as well as you... :p

I like version 2 the best.I dont have a clue as how to capture an acoustic guitar with mics so Im no help.Sounds good to me but Im sure you'll get an even better sound the more you work with mic placement etc..

I thought it sounded great. Natural. Was that the Oktava sans EQ?

What guitar? My experience dictates that each acoustic demands its own mic techniques, so, like others say, experiment with placement. Although, what you did sounds pretty fine. If you wanted more of something, mess with a little EQ. I almost always roll off 80 on down for acoustics and sometimes boost the 5-7k region a little for some more shimmer or air.

You play wonderfully!

Thanks a bunch. I'll look at my levels a little better. I can hear what your saying. I hear the lead fading here a there. Thanks for the input.

LtBob-

Thanks for your ears. I guess I should start using the mics then :)

B.SABBATH

As usual your being nice again :) but you really wanted to hear some lead electric guitar in there :D hehe ... thanks man!

I know exactly what you are saying... hmmm why did I ask :) I think you are right.. Im too used to the electric sounds... and its hard to make the conversion. But as I keep listening the mics give a very natural(more appealing sound). I guess I'll have to keep playing around with my current setup. There is alot of work to using mics on a guitar... there are so many different sounds with just moving the mics a few inches. Another thing I'm worried about is when I take the recording into a cd player the mix sounds very bassy. Hmmm.... just more stuff I have to work out. Thanks again for helping me out! I think I work best from the gut .. so I'll do that :)

Hehe.... Ok Im gone away...

Ok... Im back :) I have never heard of Mr. Ross... I'll give him a listen sometime. I'll glad you liked the sound Im getting from the mics. Im using two mics with the XY configuration. I read up on the interent a little bit on how to do it and starting moving the mics around a bit.

muzeman

Thanks :) I'll glad you cant hear any problems! :) I was starting to get nervous if I wasnt micing properly.
Harvey Gerst recommended three mics to me.. and one of them was the MC012 and I decided to get a stereo pair from the sound room. I think you can get the same pair from GC but you'll have to listen to every one to make sure they sound good. I'm ignorant with mics so I let the sound room do the dirty work. They have character as I hear. I also added slight plate reverb. Thanks again!

WATYF

Where have you been? :) Im happy that everyone likes the mic'd sound... even though its alot more work.. I guess its worth it. Thanks alot for the encouragement... play guitar every day and you'll be Ok at it :) Take care

Kramer

You right... the more time I spend with placement .. I think it will sound alot better... time... boy, thats some valuble stuff!

crawdad

I didnt use any Eq. That is just my Takamine acoustic going into my Korg piano for reverb. I'm gonna try messin' with the Eq like you say. I guess its just a combination of good mic plaement and Eq'n to get a great sound.. I'll work on that ... thanks alot for the advice. :)

Don Ross is a great acc gtr player/ composer. he has some stuff on mp3.com

he doesn't sound like you or anything, I'm just learning couple of his tunes so he was first that came to mind. In my post I wanted to make it sound like I'm changing the subject because you don't need advice on mic techniq :D

cheers

I REALLY like the sound. Very creamy and nice. That's a killer tune my friend.
