I own a pair of Yamaha S1151V PA speakers that I use for small club gigs, driven by a Peavey 550watts (a side) power amp. Can I get some help on advice on whether these speakers would/would not be suitable for studio mixing? Weblinks for further reading? I tried searching these boards and I couldn't find anything on the subject.
Thanks in advance.

They would not work well at all. Not much more I can say. You'd be far better of getting a set of studio monitors. There's lots of reasons.

yeah, some really good home audio speakers would work better then those...bad idea get some cheap studio monitors if cash is a problem and learn how to mix then your golden

if the yamahas are all you have to mix with, then use them. They are not ideal for mixing, and as someone else said, you would be better off with more accurate speakers. But you can learn to account for their characteristics.
