Im brand new to recording...but Ive been a DJ for 5 years now.
I just recently bought a PC, soundcard, Rode NT1000 and I use some old mackie board preamps for recording in Cool Edit Pro.
Now, Im getting to the point where I wanna be able to control my mixes. I wanna try to get all the vocals embedded in the tracks a lot smoother. Currently, all I do is use whatever Cool Edit has for effects and just try to balance out the levels of the tracks.
What kind of software should I use that will help me to achieve better sounding mixes and If someone could explain a brief mixing process that would be EXTREMELY helpful.
Also, could someone explain the difference between mixing and mastering? Thanks.
