Hello.
I have just hooked up a PC(Pentium 2) to my Yamaha MD8. I have burned off a couple of cd's through Musicmatch Jukebox. I'm looking for suggestions for a program that I can get started on. I don't need anything too complicated until I get the general idea. Plus, I probably wouldn't use many of the features. Is there anything I could download for free right now and use for basic mixing/mastering? Anything with effects? Then burn to CD eventually.

Thanks

Roch

I think there is a program called Kristal that is free. Check out www.hitsquad.com for some sweet free stuff. I would suggest dropping 45 or so bucks and getting n-tracks. It should keep you set for a while.

While you at it get yourself a copy of 'Modern Recording Techniques' by Huber & Runstein and read these forums a few hours a day. You already have the right idea of not throwing money at this.

You're going to find out real fast that the P2 isn't enough processing power to make decent recordings, so for now just stick with the cheaper free programs because they generally use less memory. If you do buy your software keep upgradability in mind.
