I wanted to get practicing and googled for something and came up with this.

Great book.

Got mine back in 2012, and, sadly, skimmed over that first chapter really fast (near-field monitors, ports, bass trapping, materials, blah, blah blah...) and only realized almost 5 years later how crucial its understanding is.

I havent read this book. The link takes you to a site where stems are saved and you can dl them for mixing. I do agree that what you mentioned is crucial to achieve decent sounding mixes... to get really good sounding mixes, takes time in those environments tuned for good translation. check out the link, theres like over a hundred songs you can dl.

Im already working on my second mix.

I actually found this site last week LOTS of stems from variety genres. Not much in the way of feed back so Ill pop this one here for feedback the bands name is Triviul song is Alright. Its hard to navigate to the stems I found but ifpeople get on it I think a lot of peoples mixing skills could benefit
