I just listed to 'All this Restraint' and I think this sounds pretty dang good! Very clear, and you can hear all the pieces well. One thing though that caught me right away is that the back up vocals are a bit loud IMO. A bit distracting I'd say. They seem really wide in the mix (maybe just panning?) but that might have something to do with why they stick out some. It's really nice though! Good work!

Thank you the vocals were double tracked and they are panned hard left and right. I also used a room mic on some parts which might be what your talking about. But pretty much everything is panned hard left and hard right or pretty close.

I think it sounds good, from a critical listening standpoint I didnt hear anything blantantly out of place. Maybe some of the guys around here that have a lot more experience will find something. Nice work!

Im glad it sounds good to everyone one, I feared the fact that i was in an untreated room might mess things up. But It seems that a good set of headphones and monitors along with 2 sets of ears has led to a pretty good mix.

All This Restraint sounds killer, nothing I could really offer for improvement. How'd you track/mix guitars?

it sounds good, a little too much stereo trickery though. but im an idiot.

almost everything has been positive. I do like to pan things pretty hard, But I may try making some things a bit more narrow. This was tracked with 7 mics on the drums and 2 guitarists and me on bass all going direct. The guitars were then sent to amplitube 3, an additional acoustic was recorded with an SM81. The lead guitar is going through a fender 65 twin modeler rhythm into a mesa MKII modeler. I used some compression on the lead guitar.

Nothing else major on guitars? I love how upfront they sound while there's still plenty going on in the mix. I've always wanted mine to come out like that!

yeah amplitube exceeded my expectations, although the guitars don't sound as "real" while solo'd the ability to change the amount of drive reverb and eq leads to a really nice balance. Other than the amplitube I have a high pass around 150 or 200hz on these tracks.

another word of advice I have is too little distortion is always better than too much.
