Is there no mixer screen in Garageband???I thought for sure there would be....what do you guys use to set up your mix

There should be channel controls to the left of the tracks/waveform displays.

Garageband is pretty handy, but there are better, more versatile, DAWs around.
If you intend to pursue recording further it's worth considering stepping up to a more advanced DAW.

Yep. As far as I can tell it only works at a sample rate of 44.1, which is a deal breaker for me. Well, that and I don't use Apple products unless there's absolutely no other option (like at my day job).
