I'm an EXTREME amateur at recording. I'm currently in the process of making a home recording studio, but don't have a computer to spare so everything is hardware. Yea this is a dumb question, but what does a hardware mixer do for your recording, and which do you recommend for a cheap price ($200-$300)? Also I hear people talking about preamps, so what do those do for the final product of your recording?
