Ok, so I recorded Drums with one mic overhead in front of the kit. I recorded it directly onto one track. Now, it sounds decent, but I have snare distortion and the drums don't sound that great. What can I do to make them sound better? Would EQ'ing help? I have a tascam 424MkIII Portastudio, which is a 6 channel mixer. For example, would more mid help? more lows? i dont know and i need some help.

I'm not a real expert like some of the people here but I can tell you that you should just experiment! You don't need to come on here to ask if you can EQ something. Try adding some low end, some high, some mid, see what sounds good to you and there's your answer.

hhmm....

unless you can pull off a "when the levy breaks" then i would suggest getting more mics on the drums. One mic is not going to get you commercial proffesional drum sound. But it still records them non the less... Good luck.

Try re-recording (if possible) playing with mic placement to get a better balance and no distortion on the snare...its not impossible to get a good sound with one mic just difficult...
