First of all, very good
acoustic guitar sound...nice spread! Wow when it first started playing I was very excited. However, I didn't like the guitar tones that start up at about 0:26 and play out melodies throughout....just too...boingy? A little too loud too...especially during the "here comes the sun line"...the one in the right channel fights the vocals.
Not sure if the synth is necessary.
At times I think I can hear the bass...other times I wonder if there is any bass at all?
The vocals need to come up...or more likely, everything else needs to go down a bit. Vocals were well-done though...maybe could have used a bit of reverb (in fact the whole mix was a little dry).
The drum sound was ok overall...snare was maybe a little thick.
You say you were recording a friend so I shouldn't say too much about the performance...but I feel like I have to. For one it's really rushed. This is a beautiful song and needs to breath a little. And I must say that my favorite part of the original is the line "and I say" right after the chorus...."and eeeyyyeee say". In this version it's definately been overlooked
All in all, good recording! And again, great job with those intro guitars, really great!
