Mixing a song for my landlord... 0__o

Mixing? That's the cheapest rent yet!

I don't know that I'd call it mud on the low end, but there is something a little weird there. I think the bassy instruments (bass, kick) maybe need a little mid-range for definition. As it is, they kind of act as a low-end pulse.
Really, that's kind of nit-picky tho. This is a pretty good sounding mix.

I agree with VHS that there is a little weirdness somewhere in the mix. To me, I'm hearing a buildup in maybe the 500hz range - plus or minus an octave. The vocal, guitar, snare are all kind of stepping on each other in that range. I'm hearing some cloudiness, which is usually caused by energy in that range.

The bass has a boomy frequency too. Maybe in the 150hz - 200hz range.

The drum pattern, especially the snare, is a little busy in spots. That kind of clutters the mix.

Maybe my ears aren't working well yet, since I just woke up, but I don't hear that weird low mid thing the other guys are. I think the kick sounds thumpy, and it's pattern isn't what I'd do, personally, but I don't hear a buildup. Just not any definition from it. Kind of a blob sound. That's it.
