I have a Midiman 4 input 4 output breakout box card that is 20 bit. I want to add to my system a second card with another 4 inputs. I have a few questions:

1: Can you mix a 20 bit card on a system with a 24 bit card and still have it perform fine together (I'm using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9)with no conflicts?

2: Will I have better performance with two separate cards, or would performance be better if I sold mine and got an 8 input card?

3: Is there a noticable difference between 20 bit and 24 bit to your ear? I might be able to get another Midiman like I have now cheap since 24 bit is all the rage, and I have heard it sounds basically the same.

4: Do you think my computer can run both? It is a PII 333 mhz. 64mg Ram. I am using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 with a Soundblaster Awe 64 Gold soundcard.

Keep it real, Peace Out.

It is highly recommended to record at 24-bit. Use your 20-bit card for monitoring or 16 bit mastering.
