Mixer-to-Monitors: Neutrik XLR or 1/4"?

Hello Forum!

I finally got a (used) pair of Yamaha MSP5 monitors and I also have a Yamaha MG 12/4 mixer.

The monitors have a Neutrik XLR and 1/4" connector on them and the mixer of course has multiple connectors.

Question is - for the cleanest sound, should I connect the mixer to the monitors using 1/4" mono cables or Neutrik XLR cables?

I'm using Hosa 1/4" mono cables right now just to be able to use everything, but I'm thinking I can get a cleaner signal than what I'm getting in a better cable (i.e., Mogami) and maybe going with XLR vs. 1/4".

However, still being an audio newb, I'm unsure.

Can anyone offer advice please? Also, is a Neutrik XLR cable the exact same thing as a Mic XLR cable?

XLR. Balanced is always best. And yes they are the same as the XLR's on a mic.. Neutrik is a brand name.
