I am about to buy all the equipment for my studio and here is what I am looking at so far...
Yamaha EMX5000-12 Stereo Powered Mixer, and Hercules 16/12 firewire audio I/O.

Here is my question. and yes its very n00bish... Ive never payed much attn to the mixer options, but can I run all of my instruments and mics 9 in total to my mixer then from my mixer to the hercules... I know mixers have outs but isnt there an out for each in so you can loop to a recorder??????? Please help Im driving myself insane...

With that mixer, you have inserts for the 8 mono preamped channels that you can use as direct outs to 8 of the inputs on the Hercules.
You should also be able to make use of the effects and monitor sends to fill up the rest of the analog inputs of the Hercules.

I think I would look at a Soundcraft Spirit E12 (12 mono channels... each with Insert I/O) and a decent two channel power amp (if you require a powered mixer).

wow thx alot man, I think i will go that route, huge thx alot, but i do have one Q, is there a mixer out there that is up to par with that one because i am getting all of my stuff from sam ash and they dont have that one lol, also what amps do you recomend, without breaking the bank?

frossbyte how is the hercules working for you? im thinking of getting one, any comments? thanks

I run mine from a Behringer 2442-fxpro mixer, using the direct outs insterts and groups as I see fit. You really need to use it with a mixer, as you can only monitor two channels in hardware with the current drivers.
