I own the Behringer Ub2442FX and I want to know if there is anything I can buy to go from that mixer to my computer via USB; or if that would even be a good idea.

It's called an audio interface. You would probably be better off with a Firewire interface, as opposed to USB.

Why do you want USB? If you're going to spend money, then you might as well get a good sound card and use the output of the mixer to the card.

I think thats what he means.

Mixer outs> usb OR firewire audio interface> usb OR firewire port.

you can do it right now with your sound card on you PC. Use the line-in on your card weather it be on board or a PCI card. you will need an adaptor or custom cable to get it from your mixer out to your line-in. the recording will not be all that great but you will get your ideas recorded. also you will need a recording software of your choice.

USB Interface

Your mixer appears to have 1/4" Main outs, RCA Tape outs, and XLR Main outs.

Say you want to use the main outs, you could split the signal from the 1/4" outs into 1/4" and RCA outs with some kind of splitter (That way you get main outs to your amp and to your computer). Then you could take the outputs from the RCA to this:

This interface has RCA IN and USB Out.

I bought one of these because the laptop I use has no line in jacks just USB input. You will also need some kind of software that you can mix with.....

yeah right now I'm going RCA out of the board and 1/8" in..I think the quality might be a little crappy that way. SO I figured USB would be a better approach.
