Hi guys. I think i need some advise on how to set up my gear most efficiently..Ok..I'm using DELTA 44 (4in-4out) sound card with Cubase VST...I've got a mixer with 4 SUB outs and only two AUX sends, And a pair of powered monitors.
Could you please sugest the most efficient way of hooking all this up!!?? Until now i was doing this:
plug 4 sound sources into the mixer, assign them to the 4 sub-outs, and then send those to the 4 inputs of the sound card.
And for the monitoring I would just go straight out of my souncard to my monitors...NOW i've got two more outputs left on the soundcard but havent got a headphone amp!!! I used to send the outputs of the soundcard to two channels on the mixer and assigning those two to aux sends, and sending aux to the monitors, but then i cant hear the mix on the phones which i would plug into the phone output on the mixer... How should I bring the signal back from the computer to the mixer so i could connect monitors to the mixer and,of course, my headphones to the mixer as well... Please comment and make suggestions
Thanks heaps guys!!!

Would this work?

Run your soundcard outs to the monitors directly, from the card.

Run the other set of outs to your mixer, and assign them to the master bus instead of aux outs, you should get the sound in headphones for the master out, right??

I'm not sure this would be OK but it might work.

If i run the outs to master bus of the mixer it's going back into the soundcard...isn't it...coz i've got to assign it to one of the sub-outs if I want it to come out on the master bus.and all of those sub-outs are feeding the soundcard.....but thnx anyway for your help......

What mixer (which behringer) are you using? The normal way to monitor is to run the sound card outs back into 2 channels on the mixer. Than you can route your playback wherever you need it.

Tex, I'm using a Mackie CFX 20...I know what you're saying, but I wanted to be able to route my playback to the phones as well, which I would like to plug into the mixer too....but after a few combinations and thoughts..I realised that it's impossible, coz i havent got enough sends...if I had 4 aux sends i would send the signals to the sound card from the AUXs, and monitor through the 4 sub-outs (master)....thnx anyway....

I run my soundcard outs directly to the monitors. Why create loops to drive yourself crazy??

If you don't have a headphone jack on your monitors, run a Y-cable on the outs to a boombox or stereo that does have headphone jacks and then you can also use it to check your mix on an "average consumer's" system too....

I don't understand why routing playback into their own channels would prevent you from monitoring on cans. That is how all studios do it.

Use the Inserts on the back to send your channels to the computer.
