I hear you get more depth and punch in your final mix from a 2 bus vs mixing in the box. Can anyone explain to me the difference between a summing mixer and a regular line mixer?

this may be a dumb question, i'm very new to anything analog, but is it possible to do summing outside your daw if you only have a 2 output soundcard?
