I am just starting to get into recording and am trying to get all the neccessary equipment I need but am a tad confused on one particular issue (for now). This is what I got so far

1 MacPro26 Quad Core 2.6GHz Mac Pro
1 Traveler Firewire Audio Interface
focusrite ISA 220 channel strip
and bunch of instruments, mics, an mpc 1000, etc
I just started using logic

For right now my signal chain is

Ins/mike---->ISA channel strip ------>traveler-------> computer/sequencer

My main question is do I need an analog mixer with my current setup?
and how would it benefit me? Would I not need an analog mixer and just
purchase a control surface or even mix (within the box) thanks

Ok I'll say something...

This is a loaded question...
I'd say yes get an analog Mixer...
I use Logic Pro7 as well...
I find that with all the extra instruments I have (outboard), Having an external Mixer is a good way to link everything together.. I use the sub outs into a FW410 and it's good to be able to swap items for recording using the subs and a patch bay...

I'm an old schooler - To me doing everything right in the box seems a little cumbersome...

If you have a lot of instruments, Go with an analog unit...

Hope this helps a little

I don't think you NEED one, no - but you might WANT one for ease of use, it's all personal preference really - with your channel strip you can obviously only record a limited number of tracks - I'm guessing one at a time...
