Hi,
I just bought a 'Spirit Notepad'.

The 'line in/mic.' channels have controls calibrated in db.

I understand basic db theory but cannot relate the meaning to the input signal and its reference parameter - whatever that is?

Could someone please explain?

Many thanks

Oh? Sure? It doesn't say db. Maybe it is.

Yes, sure. What you don't exactly tell us what it is you want to know. ;)

I'll make a guess: You wonder how come the signal becomes higher when the number gets lower. That's because it's not a gain, it's 'sensitivity'. Kinda unintuitive, perhaps, but maybe it makes sense to the people at soundcraft, they do this sometimes. ;)

LOL

To be honest ,

I have never understood the db thingy except to never let my mixes or any channels go over 0. I just use my ears and mix way below zero. LOL

gotta article for me Bear? For digital that is.

Yup....... sure do!

Meters, Signal Levels, and Headroom

Digital's no different, except you don't have to worry about interfacing with analog "accepted levels"!

LOL, I figured you did !

Thanks

Gives me something to do today until studio time. LOL

BTW,, last project is on hold for a minute.
