I've been using stand alone hard disk recorders and just made the jump to CPU based. I have Nuendo 3 and want a mixer style interface to record with (so when I move the mixer fader the onscreen fader moves, etc.)

What should I look for? Any suggestion? I know Yamaha colaborates with Steinberg so will any USB Yamaha mixer work?

Any help appreciated.

There is a stienberg controller (the CC121) which is meant to be quite handy. Behringer make a cheap crappy motorised MIDI controller, but I wouldn't want to come on here and recommend it, especially as you have spent $2000 on a peice of software.

If you are running N3, you must have a fairly healthy signal chain, do you use a desk? Can you not just use that as fader control?

There are a ton of options and it really depends on what you will be doing with it. here is a good place to start:

Personally, I use a old JL Cooper CS-10. It is built like a tank and it has a very high res jog, long faders, and is very well laid out and thought out control surface. The faders dont fly, but I really never found that to be super useful on a compact control surface where you can only work with 8 faders at a time
