Mixer Choices

Alright then. I have been using a small usb peavey mixer in my studio for a while. It has worked great. I am looking to upgrade to a bigger board. Should i stick to a board that has the built in usb capabilities or should i get a board and then purchase some kind of audio interface? Does it matter? Pros and Cons? Suggestions on audio interfaces if needed ($150 or so for the interface)?

I personally do the seperate mixer and interface. Mainly for the flexibility. I have a few really good outboard mic pres and I would not want to run those through a lower quality mixing board / interface to get to the computer.

I use an old 1602vlz pro and a RME multiface II(pci) for conversions. The mixer is great for monitoring while tracking and mixing. I will make 4 sub mixes in cubase and buss those out to the mixing board taking advantage of outboard electronics (mainly compressors) and also you get some analog mixing. I do not use the eq on the board because they suck. I use plugin eq and reverb.
