Mix contest is on.
No rules do what you want.
No date on end of contest yet.

Only have one judge so far, still need more.

20 tracks are in the three files. Use only what you want.
I am looking for the track sheet. A few of the tracks are DI guitars that we used only for tracking the drums. So use only the tracks you want or use them all. I don't care.

I will post a track sheet when I find it or have time to make a new one.

It's a nice day out so I have to get some work done around the house today (not many more nice weekends left).

First zip is drums.
This is just off the top of my head but I think it is like this.

1 -Kick
2 Tom L
3 Tom M
4 Tom H
5 Snare
6 O/H L
7 O/H R

The second zip os Vox, Bass and some guitar.
Vox should be 8, 14, and 15
Bass 9

All the other tracks should be guitar.

I think the tracks higher than 16 are all scratch or DI guitars.

I will also try to get up a rough mix.

Once again the above is just a guess, I am not on the computer with all the info on it.
 
All right; I'll do it as long as you don't mind me using the project for a grade in class. :D

Pretty good mix Gunnar....I am DL'ing now, so it will be a bit before I even know what is there.... :D

Nice drums so far...and cool guitars...Interesting vocals...not bad. No real nits yet, as my mix might blow chunks.... :eek:

That's the whole point isn't it??? :D

With the kick I cheated. I used Andy Sneap's kick samples via Drumagog. Put that thru the UAD Neve 1073 EQ. Sent an Aux to a drum room reverb that all the drums are on. Also, good chunk of the sound is coming thru the OH's that get paralell compressed with a UAD 1176LN in "all-in" mode. Helps the sample gel into the song better........
 
I just started uploading the files to my server should have some links in about 10 minutes.

I was thinking that the toms could us it.

Any way of chopping the files up a bit, I do have a broadband connection, just not the fastest.....for what ever reason, I get timed out :confused:

I may go back and drumagog the toms as well, I am going to try and put some more weight in them first. As strange as this sounds, I kinda liked the messed up sound they have now - especially in the break down.

Is this your band?

Any comments/critiques on the rest of it?

I'm too old to play this kind of music. :eek: :D :confused:
It's my nephews band. (he has been living at my house for a year)
I'm just trying to help them out and learn the whole recording thing in the process.
This is the first full band that I had in the basement.


I'm heading down to the basement soon so I can check it out on some better monitors.
 
I have to go buy some excedrin before I mix this. :D I guess I'm getting old too. :o
 
I thought I was going to hate it at first, but as It started to come together, I actually started to like it. :)

Maybe TimboZ's nephew can be a judge as well?
