well i wonder what you guys do,
i've recorded a few demo cds this year and most of the time i just used ONE cubase project for the entire cd, i record song after song,
use the same compressors/eq's but thanks to automation i change the settings per song, this gives me a nice overview over all the songs, makes sure that every song doesn't sound totally different,
or do you guys really prefer to start from scratch every time?
if so, then i guess its harder to make the entire cd sound like "one coherent cd" ?
my stuff doesn't get mastered, i do the mixdown and thats it, its underground stuff
just curious about your opinion,

cheers,

Ear worm,

Either way is fine I think. It all depends on prefence. I prefer to do each song in seperate projects just because it is a little cleaner and my PC tends to bog down if there are too many tracks. If you do one project for each song then just save the effects that you use to presets and then apply them to the other songs that you have recorded.

Of course you will probably need slight modifications on things like compression and channel volumes because of the different ways that people play for each tune.

Hope that helps,

Timmy J
