ok ya'll, this is my first real problem with Cool Edit i've ever had, anyway wen i mix down all my tracks for some strange reason the final product seems to be skipping or missing some dialoge from the track, like some vocal parts would be missing but the beat would still be there. Its really getting to me because i finally recorded a single for my first cd and i can't mix it down to post it, save it, put it on cd, etc.. Please help with this one ya'll

Thanks

So you are saying that when you play the session in multitrack view, it's all there, but when you mix it down, bits are missing? Which version of the program is this

version 2, ok this is the set up. I have all my tracks labeled and all there effects already on them (i made a default to use as a recording basis to eliminate time consumption) now when i go to mixdown all the tracks for some reason in the begining (first verse usually) bits and pieces are missing like in the first 20 seconds of verse in like maybe 2-3 areas. Its not like they are big pieces its like when the word "then" is pronounced it comes out like "en". The begining of words the end of words sometimes the whole word is just gone.

Nobody has any reply?!, i know someone out there has had this problem before. I've been on this forum for months now and i've read about all types of problems that i would have never thought would happen to me, but when they did i was ready. Now it seems like nobody knows wat im talking about, look i explained the problem, i know from experience somebody has the answer.

I don't mean to sound mad, but i know somebody has some type of advise for me

thanks

To be honest, I find it hard to think of any explanation. Somehow the mixdown process is missing some data from some files and replacing it with silence, if you say that there is nothing missing from the overall beat of the piece. As a wild guess I'd say it must be a hard drive defect - the drive is failing to read sections of the files. I can't recall hearing of such a problem before - skipping on multitrack playback is not uncommon if the PC can't keep up with the demands of the session but then it affects the whole sound, not just omitting bits from some files. Sorry, you've got me stumped for one, much as I'd like to help.

Well...

Thanks anyway, man this is a wierd one, there has got to be someone out there who has been through this but me. I find it hard to believe i am the first, but i guess there is a first for everything and everyone.

If anyone can help me please try

This is the first time I've heard of this one. It's not a Cool Edit problem, is my guess, cuz like you say, you hear every kind of problem connected with Cool Edit on this board, and I've never heard it, so it must be something else. Hard drive or soundcard would be the prime suspects.

If you're still working with this...I have a trouble shooting suggestion. Take the vocal file and just mix it down to a different track. Even if it's only one track, just highlight it by clicking on it, then go to "EDIT" and mix it down to another (empty) track in the multitrack session. Lemme' know if any of the pieces are missing when you do that.

that or mix down in sessions not the entire project at once. I don't feel that is a problem with CEP.
