The Tascam 102 is the de facto standard for studio-grade cassette recorders... runs about $1K in Canada...........

If you are buying something why are you buying a casette deck? You would be better off with DAT, CD burner or at least a MiniDisk.

The Tascam 202 MKIII has dual decks and is a real workhorse ($599. U.S. List) I'd have to agree with Tex, though. Blank CD's are cheaper than chrome cassette tape, and without the hiss, high end loss, etc. I'd go with a CD burner.
