Well-I probably shouldnt post this -but I work 16 hrs every saturday and just did it out of boredom i guess...The song is called ressurected--This is a very rough mix! Just a work cd i had with me and ran through wavelab-to polish up a bit. I apologize ahead for the drums-we plan on re-doing them next week-and theres hardly any eq or anything-but you'll get the idea of the song---The nice thing is its under 3 minutes-I wanted to write one of those old school short pop songs.....so anyway......

Stratoman,
Nice Pop tune !!!
Reminds me of the Turtles (One of my all time favorites)
Since its a rough draft I will skip any mix critique until you post a finished product.
This definately gets the point across, and it is a really catchy melody. You got it down Strato !!

Vox are top notch as usual.
Keep it up!

Joel

GREAT!!

Great song, performed greatly, with great stuff throughout.

Now lose the 60 cycle hum.

(not commenting on drums)

:D
Sincerely,
-The UNgreat One

Hey stratomeister......
Cool stuff man. Very strong pop...... reminds me of those guys that do the "friends" theme song. Nice vocs and harmonies....... What mic are you using for lead vocs?

Very nice work man, cant wait to hear your finished product.

the part that kicks in at 1 minute was great, and I was immediately sucked in. :D the verses were done well for a happy piece, but I was feelin' those other parts.. those backups were really good too..

I will offer no mix suggestions because I am going through a sound crisis at the moment.. It sounded good over here..

good tunes strato! I normally don't like songs that are as happy as this.. :)

This is a really nice song! Pop yes! Nice changes!

The drums were a bit chaotic and upfront, but I think I know where you were going with them.

Very enjoyable!

Hey Stratoman!!!

How about putting "Love and War" up on NWR !!

I don't think you were posting there when you originally shared that song and I didn't download it !

Would love to hear it through the new monitors I bought!

Keep 'em coming!!

Joel

Hey guys--Thanks alot for taking your time to listen and respond. To answer specific questions and comments---

Jamal-I play guitar and bass and I come up with the tunes-sometimes melodies and an occasional word thrown in here and there-I also do all the recording mixing etc etc-but I don't sing-The singer and I have been working together a long time and we work well together.

Fender--glad to see you back around-you seemed to dissappear for a while-thanks for listening. How bout them Dawgs?

JCMM-Glad you liked it man! Alot of the 50's-70's pop songs got so much accomplished in that old 2:30 format-I'm a sucker for motown and phil spector stuff-Love the songs, love the sound. This was an attempt to make a song that wouldnt be out of place on AM radio-but not too wimpy I hope...And a request!!Wow! I'll be working the overnight and I'll work on getting "love and War" up so check back tommorrow--It would be my pleasure. Thanks mucho.

Chris Harris-You've listened to everything I put up-I actually go out of my way to read your critiques on anybody's stuff-you have a way with words for sure and have cracked me up numerous times-as far as that hum-good call-fortunately im pretty sure that its not going on during the track-when i turn around to stop the recorder-is when i get the buzz-ill make sure to get rid of it next time i get to our "studio" thanks!

Guernica-Thanks for listening! The mic we use for ld vocals is usually an akg c4000-I havent heard anyone else mention using one-maybe its a dog I dont know. Seems to get a pretty clean sound-Hell we've also used an sm58 and I never had a prob with it either.

B.Sabb-You've also listened to everything I've ever put up-thanks alot. Yeah its kinda happy wimpy-but we've got plenty of downers to round it off :). A sound crisis? you? dont worry im sure you'll find a bag soon!

Slackmaster-Wow a MOD! I'm really honored. I'll be checking your tune out later when i get the good work headphones. Thanks for listening man!

Well thats it-my self congradulatory self bumping response was longer than all the listener responses combined. Dont worry I should be off the front page by tommorrow. Thanks to all-lata!

great song....I wish the singer sang it a bit more Rocky than Poppy, but ask him to do another take a bit "harsher" if he can just to hear what it would sound like...but yeah, great tune...
well done

Nice...

...born of 60's folk-pop... very well structured piece... singer has a clear, talented voice...

Drums sound pretty good... mix is nearly there... just a few EQ overlaps here and there... those backup vox ("bomp bomp") are cool... tons of reverb, done tastefully...

Couldn't you just see Keith Partridge cradling the mic, Susan Dey shakin her head back & forth, and Danny Bonaducci workin them drums? :D

Oh, and Shirley Jones hitting a tambo :D

Just try to frown thru this little number :) Good job, master of the Strato...

Chad

Roker thanks for listening-I kind of like the vox-not sure what you mean by more "rocky". We've got some more modern rockers-we did this by way of contrast i guess you could say...

Participant- You've got it all wrong dude.....Danny played bass (an ovation if I'm not mistaken)...!!....My first musical heroes the Partridge Family-funny you brought that up-havent thought of them in a while-maybe an "I think love You" cover is in our future-with a segue into "time to change" by the brady bunch hmmmm.....Thanks for listening and the nice comments.

>Fender--glad to see you back around-you seemed to dissappear for a while-thanks for listening. How bout them Dawgs?

thank's strat!! time has been limited here for me lately,( bummer)
i hate to miss all these great tunes!!! and i love to hear local guy's !!!

and the DAWG'S!!! not a huge football fan, but im always behind U.G.A.!!!!!!!!!

RUFF RUFF!!

peace

Man i wished i could do bk-up vocals like that! Lead vocals too! Really nice tune Stratomaster! What was the "buzz" sound at the end of it? Might of been on my end...dosen't matter you got your point across really well my friend. Enjoyed it muchO!

oh, no, no....nothing against the vocals...they're excellent, I was just wandering if the other styles would suit him better, but obviously you like it that way, and it's great...keep pumpin' em out:)

it all sounds good...

just, it lacks energy. the vocals have a bit...but they could have more, esp for this genre.

of course, energy is a hard thing to transfer to a recording...on the level of the performers, AND the engineering behind it...so, keep working at it, compress some here and there...get it a bit more "lively"...

of course this is going to be even harder given that stale cold brittle digital recording medium... ;) (kidding)

Cool tune!

Nice acoustic tone, how did you record it?
The vocals were great,nice harmonies.

Definitly a fine pop tune.
Reminds me of Bread, really nice! :)

I really enjoyed it,thanks.

Pete

smooth it out a little and make it a little more dynamic and you could run it back thru the pop charts again ... :)

I`d like to hear this at the dentist while on nitrous oxide, I`d probably giggle a lot and wave my hands. It`s lively as hell, good stuff.
