Hey, I host a radio show & want to also utilize the studio to record a CD. Man, I ran through a track today and the hiss was unbelievable! Very dismaying. My question to you all is: how can I eliminate it to arrive at a finished product? I'm working with one microphone there in the studio... It's really gonna be a process...

Thoughts? Do I just need to get into a bigger, better studio?

Removing the hiss afterwards is a poor solution and it will still sound crappy. But this can be done on many audio editing programs.

Your best bet is to rerecord it. What is the mic and how exactly are you recording? There is probably some way to get a cleaner recording but we need to know what you have to work with.

I don't know what the mic is; whatever radio announcers typically use. I just sort of recorded it open mic style, positioning the mic best I could between the guitar & my mouth. I have every intention of re-recording; I get to go in once a week, minimum. This was just my 1st attempt, and I can see that I need to enhance my process...
