I know you can upload songs into a minidisk player/recorder froma computer, but can you send tracks into the computer from a minidisk player/recorder?thanks for your time

Sure you can

Analog is a breeze, just take the line out of the earphone jack, but if you need to get the digital signal out, you will need a deck or expensive PRO portable that has a optical out.

Even the cheaper ($250-$300) sony md man's have an optical port.
So, yes.:)

My pocket sized Sony MZ-R70 has only the digital in but not the digital out and the level of the combined analog line out/headphone out is well below standard line level so you'll need soundcard with preamp to get usable level into computer. Maybe they've fixed these shortcomings in the newer versions but I doubt it. I suspect too that the newer models with computer interface has only the ability to upload music to MD but not to download to PC. That would be just too handy.

I have been trying to figure this one out too.

My MD deck has the TOS-LINK out but my existing soundcard (SB Audio 64) does not have a TOS-LINK in or any external inputs other than USB which will work for MIDI.

My Echo Darla 24 has not arrived back from repairs but has its own AD/DA converters but has 2 channels in and 4 or 6 out...I have not got to use it (arrived DAO) yet.

My work so far has been to use my 4-track cassette and bounce to MD and back untill I can upgrade to a DAW.

So far I have not found a way to go from my MD to TOS-LINK out and into my PC in the digital realm but I would like to have this option.

My PC and my recording equipment stay on opposite sides
of the house for now (wife considerations:rolleyes: ) but I could pick up a portable MD player and keep it by the computer and take it to band rehearsals to play demo's on.
