MIM vs MIA Strats

Does not matter. It's American made isn't it? Isn't the craftsmanship supposed to be flawless?

Sigh.

On average, the American Fenders I've played have been noticeably better than the Mexican. Individual guitars here and there will buck the trend, and with some customization and a bit of luck you can turn a Mexican Fender into something truly special. However, your odds of reaching into a stack of 10 guitars and pulling one out that will impress you is definitely higher with American Fenders, compared to Mexican.

Nothing is 100% perfect 100% of the time. The idea is to get both those numbers as close to 100% as you can, and my experience (and the experience of a lot of this board) is they're higher for American fenders than for Mexican.

If you think one single guitar should be perfectly representative of an entire production line's output, well, I suppose you've never had an off day on the job yourself, either.

I see your point. However by perusing this board you will find more than one person who thinks the American Strats are a disappointment compared to the Mexicans.

If you peruse the Fender forum you will find many people who love their Mexican Strats. I believe the new Kenny Wayne Sheppard Strat is Mexican. Not sure why that is though.

Do you realize Mexicans work in the Fender factory in California? Mexicans are everywhere. Our next president will be a Mexican.

Whether or not your Strat will be a crowning jewel of achievement or a piece of junk is entirely dependant on the mood and disposition of the Mexican that worked on it.

He he...
