Hi? I've been trying to solve this problem for long enough and I'm close to giving up. Here goes.... I am trying to sync my Akai MPC 2000 XL, my keyboard, and Nuendo through midi( MTC at 30 fps and midi clock). My aim is to record one track at a time on Nuendo, record one track( like a kick drum) then go back and record another( like a snare) so they all are on seperate tracks. I have no aftermarket midi device, just my ST Audio DSP 2000 C-Port which has one midi in and 2 midi outs, this is what I use to try and sync. The problem is through the many months of trying drivers, tweaking my OS to death, upgrading, using the latest drivers, etc etc, I still can not get my final product to sync perfectly and sound like the original track. I have tried the orignal Win 2k drivers for the C-port all the way to the beta 7 r3 drivers and all in between. Problem still unsolved. I have my buffers as high as they can go and I still lose sync and get occasional pops/clicks. I have tried Win 2k pro and Win XP pro and I can't find a setup that does what I need. Is it me? Is it the C-Port? Is it the drivers? Is it Nuendo? What is it? I need help asap b/c i have sessions to run and albums to produce and if this problem isn't solved soon ST Audio and Steinberg will be losing a dedicated customer. THX

My Setup is as follows:
OS- Win 2k Pro or Win XP pro
Processor- AMD Athlon 700 mhz
Ram- 768 mb ram
Harddrive- System- 9 gig Audio- 80 gig
Nuendo version 1.52
Motherboard- Giga-Byte GA 7IXE
Graphics card- Nvidia GeForce 2 GTS
ST Audio DSP 2000 C-Port

Why do you have to 'sync' anything? Wont nuendo just play the tracks?

I think they need to be syinced because if you have the bass on beat one and three you would want the snare on two and four.

(basic 4/4 rock beat) and not bass on one and three and snar like a fraction of say at "two and"

Like this

b |0 - - - | - - - - | 0 - - - | - - - - |
s |- - - - | 0 - - - | - - - - | 0 - - - |
h |x x x x | x x x x | x x x x | x x x x |

and not like this

b |0 - - - | - - - - | 0 - - - | - - - - |
s |- - - - | - 0 - - | - - - - | - 0 - - |
h |x x x x | x x x x | x x x x | x x x x |

Something along those lines so that it is a tight 4/4 and not slightly off here and there

You lost me right there, I have my beat set up already, I just need to record it and the only way i can get the two progs to start at exactly the same time is syncin w/ midi, but its not working.

my last post was for TexRoadkill cos he wanted to know why you wanted to sync them. I know why you want to but I dont know how you do it. I got the yamaha dd55 drums but dont know much aout midi

Actually I'm pretty familliar with the whole 4/4 thing.

I was just trying to understand why you would want to sync the 2 units together instead of just using Nuendo. I dont know Nuendo but I was assuming it did midi sequencing. If not you are probably better off with a program like Logic or Sonar that handles everything in one program. Do the sequencing on your computer and just use the Akai as a sound module.

If you still want them to sync you need to set the Akai as the slave and set its midi clock to EXTERNAL on the channel you have the MTC. Make sure the Nuendo clock is set to INTERNAL and that it is transmitting MTC on a midi channel.

Hi? Thx for all of ur help! But i finally got my problem solved w/ a lil work. I used midi clock w/ Nuendo as master, set a 16 bar track b4 the main track, used the default midi settings, and used a pre roll of 20. Perfect Sync! Thx for the help
