What's the best and cheapest way to record drums. I've read about triangular miking, it seems pretty simple. What kind of mic's? if I want to be able to adjust levels what is a decent cheap mixer i could get? Any ideas?? thanks!
Keith

one mic.a good room.set the mic til you find the sweet spot in the room that picks up the drum sound you like .go for it!!!!!!!!(that's one way)(i am really no help,aM I?)

Mackie and Behringer make small mixers that would work, for mikes you can't go past the good old Shure SM57s and Sennheiser 421s. Very popular mics so you should be able to pickup some second hand. A couple of good condensors for overheads is also a good idea say AKG 1000c or similar.
cheers

Have ya'll heard of Nady drums mic's? I found them for $180 on musiciansfriend.com, it is 4 tom/snare mics and 1 bass drum mic. This is about my price, but I don't want to spend the money if they suck.

You may want to ask this in the Mic section.
I know that I personally am not prepared to dish out $180 for mic's that might suck. If I could get ONE of them for $50 bucks, I'd be willing to take the chance to check it out, but not $180.
I generally have a dislike of all things wiht "Nady" and "Alesis" on them (I even preferred Samson's Concert Wireless system back in the 80's)

Who knows if they suck? But they certainly haven't been proven to not suck.
I think if you have a pretty good room .. you can do a lot with a couple Oktava MC012s overheads and a SM57 in the kick.
As Tim recommends ... go check out the mic forum ... there's been lots of discussion about drum micing over the last few months.
Good Luck.
