I have a 6-piece Tama Rockstar custom and I have room for only 4 mics on my mixer. Can anyone tell me where the best places to put the mics are? I want my drums to sound good, but is it possible with only 4 mics?

Please Help!

Thank you.

1 kick, one snare, 2 overhead

or

1 kick, 1 snare, 1 tom, 1 overhead

work with overhead mic to get the right balance of cymbals and youll be ok.....

Look cloesely for my thread entitled "fat drums" or something similar...

One on the kick, one about equidistant between the HH and snare. The third between your first two toms, the fourth between your second two toms.

Sine you have only 4 mics, I am assuming you'll be playing in a smaller venue. Remember that when this is the case, your cymbals will need little to no micing because they will project much better than your drums. Your drums will benefit most from not only the amplification, but from whatever effects you'll be able to throw in the mix
