I won't be using that one.
That was just putting the mic through some tests.
There's a kinder, gentler piece "Leaving Nancy" that I'm going to use.
Just a few posts up from this one.
There's an A/B there. Midside vs Regular.
 
I thought the tone on both the guitar and voice was very good. Nice singing.

I'd practice mic technique when singing. It's so dynamic that some spots get real loud and other spots practically disappear. Work on keeping a slightly more consistent level when singing. Compression will help, but it might not be enough. Great singing voice though.

I thought in general the vocal was a bit too loud for the guitar. I had a hard time hearing the guit in many spots.
 
I love the traditional scottish/irish feel you gave the song, Jim. I remember hearing this as a young lad and it made me cry.....(yes, metallers have a soft side too....:p).
The recording sounds really good to me and I'm listening on cheap phones. The acoustics sound great.
 
One more like that and I'm done.
I have an album sitting at 46 minutes without the gaps.
