Midiverb II question

There may be a post about this somewhere...sorry.

I recently got a Midiverb II off ebay. It looks great. The seller says it worked fine for them...
but for me when I plug it in (using an Alesis 9v AC adapter) it only makes a constant loud buzzing sound. nothing else. if i turn it to any of the programs the ovld light comes on, and buzz continues. even adjusting the input/mix/output levels...just buzzing.

do i need to replace the op-amp? i'm not very technical but i'm thinking it might be this...

any ideas? thanks!
 
I have the same problem on one I just bought knowing it was broken. The difference is that none of the displays work. Does anyone have any ideas where to start?

Climb in your time machine and don't buy it...

Is it just the display, or do you get buzzing on the output also? You can sometimes just clean the edges and reseat the display panel to get that working... the buzzing could be anything
 
The more the mix knob is turned up, the more noise. The input and output knobs are clean though if the mix is turned down completely.
