First off I dont know about midi but I understand that its not music and that it s ajust data....now my problem is that I got this midi controller and Im trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my music.I liek to create loops from samples in Fruity loops and then export as wav. over to Acid where I can cut and paste and all that....now the question is i know I can use the controller to play my soft synths cuz I did that but I guess Im tryin to figure out how to record it and how to get it IN SYNC with my my music becuz righht now its just off tempo and slow...and in Acid I recorded like I would a vocal and it recorded it with pitch shift but most of the time its just off the beat and makes no sense........also is there a way to program a midi sequence or is all Ic an do is what I ve done with a midi controller..In general I just wanna know what I can and cant do with this thing........ps Im just using the USB connector to my CPU right now.....should I go into my SB soundcard thru the joystick/MIDI port.......

Any help would be appreciated....

Peace

Use a metronome click. Create your midi tracks first and quantize them to the click track. I usually start with a preliminary drum track to get a beat for the song and then I record my instruments along to the drum track. Afterwards, I will go back and do the drums in my own style.
Once you have a solid midi track and you want to convert it to an audio track, you can record the audio from your midi device or soft synths or whatever your using from the midi playback.
I dont know if the USB is giving you latency, but the midi port shouldn't.
