I am using Delta 44 as sound card on my PC and I recorded all my analogue source to PC with this sound card.
Lately I found all my 96khz recording files have not the sound quality of 96khz sampling when I checked them as max zoom view of cool edit 2000. All pair of sample have the same dB... It means my 96khz sound file is like as if it was coverted from 48khz sound file.

How is your 96khz recording? Your file shows real smooth 96khz wave form or 48khz wave form coverted.

Thanks

Ryoji, you need to configue correctly your recording software to record in 96kHz.
Maybe, it´s sampling down to 48kHZ...

Thanks for you reply :)

I asked one of seller in Japan. And the stuff asked to Midiman. And the answer is that delta44 has 48khz ad converter and then it convert to 96khz wave file.
The fact is that you can not record 96khz sound quality with delta44.
I will send email to midiman about spec indication of this. I believed that it could record as 96khz sound quality from analogue source when I bought it. And I think there are many people like me. and there will be...

Thanks
Ryoji

Man, this is really bad...
And they don´t say nothing about this nowhere.
It´s called cheating marketing...

There are not any rules for indication of sound card but I think it really needs!!!

Wow, that blows. Is the Delta 66 the same way? I'm assuming it would be, since they use the same hardware. The only difference is the digital I/O on the 66. ~ Michael

I am afraid that delta66 has the same spec.
If you have got one, please record any analogue by 96khz recording and check what the samples figure.
If it is like my picture, yours also has no 96khz sound quality.

Ummm... you are getting two samples with the same dB level, but that might have nothing to do with the sampling rate. I'm not familiar with Cool Edit, but I noticed near the bottom right of the screen shot that it says "32-bit mono". Are you trying to run at 32-bits and getting two samples (at 96k) with the same amplitude as a result?

Hey all,

Someone else started another thread that basically asked "did you see the other thread that said so-and-so about the Delta card?" Good replies coming down for that one.

First, I'll reiterate what sonusman said:

"...about that "double 48 sample" deal... maybe there were no samples that were a high enough frequency to cause it not to show two samples at the same volume in a row?"

In other words, basically, it's likely that wwhatever was recorded has no discernable overtones high enough to cause the adjacent samples to have the possibility of having a different value. Perhaps a trumpet or a triangle recorded with excellent equipment might show up, but forget it with an SM-57 and an electric guitar amp...

Also the point was made that if this was really true and M Audio was being sneaky and lying about specs here, their competitors would've discovered it immediately and been all over them? That savvy reviewers would've noticed this and mentioned it?

The other thread is called "Delta/66 : Not really 96kHz?", started by jelly.

Hello, this is Ryoji Furui.

I received email from MidiMan last weekend. And they said that they found a bug in the CODEC of Delta44, Delta66 and they are fixing it. And they also said they would have update any info within this week hopefully at http://www.midiman.net

Thanks
