midi tracks to instrument track

I already have a midi track recorded that was played from a keyboard. Now I want to assign that midi track to play a vst instrument. I set up an instrument track with the vst I want to hear, but can't figure out how to route it. I know I've seen this discussed here before, I thought there even was a stickie about how to do this, but now I can't find it. I'm using Cubase 4 on Windows XP.

If you created an instrument track just copy the MIDI data to that track. The other alternative is to add an instrument in the devices menu and then route the output of the MIDI track to that.

I just don't remember doing either one of your suggestions before. Oh well I'm getting old I guess.
