midi to audio

hi guys. i am using cakewalk pro audio 7, and am wondering how i get my midi tracks to audio. can this be done internally, or do i have to go out from soundcard only to re-route it to the soundcard input. all responses greatly appreciated.

why do you want to convert to audio then back to computer?

When you play back MIDI tracks and set up a separate track in CW enabled for audio recording, do you get any signal to the V/U meters? Then internal is working. If you have to use the other route, the line in works best.

i would like to eventually burn cd's of my music. and from my short experience i have found that all midi has to be converted to audio before a wav file can be exported. i want to be able to play my disc on normal audio players.
