Hi,

If you check out the Windows recording mixer for your soundcard, you should have an option that lets you record from MIDI.

Select it, then run the MIDI file you wish to record and some Wave recorder (like WaveLab). This should pick up the MIDI and record it as wave all in digital.

I know it's not very elegant, but it works!!!

well cheers for that , but your right , it doesnt sound elegant .. So far ive just been doing a typical mixdown back to digital with midi and this gives me the flexibility of using the alesis for adding effects ... Is it common for a program to only be able to handle one thing at a time ... i mean audio or midi ?? seems to be the case with logic anyway ...
cheers for that

Hey spider,
I'm a Cubase user. In cubase you could do anything...
but in your case if you want to turn MIDI into audio you will certainly need an external sound module or something like that.
If you don't want to go out of your pc then check out Steinberg's MODEL-E or Pro 52 synths software.
MODEL-E is a beast. You'll love it. There are a few other internal synths like Waldorf PPG wave,Steinberg LM4 drum machine or Propellerheads'Rebirth. For a professional review of these synths go to http://www.samplenet.co.uk
