midi to audio noise

When I recorded my midi piano tracks to audio (following instructions in cw faq#28) i had the following problems:

1) the piano came out really quiet - so quiet you can hardly hear it, even though the volume is set at 127

2) there is a lot - I mean a lot - of background noise - like circuitry noise or something - so that if I try to increase the volume of the audio tracks that noise itself becomes the loudest thing on the track. This noise is my biggest headache.

3) I put the source of the audio tracks to left and right sblive - but the right of my sblive seems to pick up hardly any sound. this is also true when recording audio -I always have to arm the track to sblive left because the signal to the right is extremely weak.

If anybody has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Malgo.

If you are getting nice fat waves in your track view, then there is an output discrepency. However, if your track view looks like nothing more than an occasional blip - you got some input adjustments to make. Acquaint yourself with the settings and adjustments on the sblive card and the virtual mixer in CW.

Thanks bball - I think I have it figured out. It was just a tiny blip - however i have messed around on it since and it seems to be ok - big juicy waves and no circuitry noise. I think what I might have done was to turn the volume down in the mix - i only wanted the piano faint in the background - BEFORE I converted it to audio... which may not have been very sensible... However it was my first ever mix so I am going to allow myself that one ;) Cheers - Malgo.
